I known a number of postings have made reference to a self-contained lighter found on Ebay as being a real nice PSK/EDC item. The main objection ahs been the cost, it seems CountyComm has gone ahead and imported the lighter. The price is reasonable (keep in mind with CountyComm, the S&H is only affordable if you purchase multiple items) at $7.00. I have one of these lighters and can highly recommend them.

The one thing I don't like about lighters that use lighter fluid, is the fact that the fluid can leak out and, if carried in a pants pocket, can cause chemical burns.

FYI- I have carried this lighter for several months now and have not had a leak to date. The unit is 2 pieces with a screw down cover that has an o-ring seal.

Good news, they just dropped the price by $2.00, so it only $5.00 now.

Have you filled it an not used it for a week or so to see if it leaks significantly?

*ponders for a moment* I wonder if you could use lighter fluid in a soda can stove? If I've got to carry a flammible fluid, I'd want it to do both.

Just took it to try, it lit the very first time and the last time I filled it was about 2 months ago.

It is also quite weather resistant: A couple of weeks ago I dropped it outside where it laid for at least a week before my wife found it, the split ring rusted slightly, so I replaced it, but the lighter itself was fine, no sign of rust and it still worked great.

Can't see why you couldn't use it in a soda can stove. I'd make a new one & start with tiny holes so you could enlarge them to find the right size. It also might produce more or less soot on the pot bottom

According to Zen Stoves and assorted other websites this is a bad idea. One Boy Scout page mentioned large fireballs, exploding can-stoves and other interesting side effects.
