I agree Nugent got it right! Gun free zones are like advertising to the criminals.

I read the form here lots. I have never replied until now. This got me mad. The "media" is not "liberal" It is corporate owned. It is big big money. It is not liberal. Fox news liberal?

I own two firearms but do not parade that knowledge around. I think that CCW is okay. I do not like Ted Nugent, in my opinion, he is a bad spokesman for the gun industry. In my stronger opinion, he is an idiot. There are far better spokespersons who can represent the gun industry.

Please to not use the pejorative "liberal" here again. The real meaning of the word is not bad. Neither is the word conservative. The media is neither. They are money grubbing institutions.

Well, I agree that declaring a "gun-free" zone is kind of an exercise in futility at best, and outright madness at worst. Of course some paranoid schizophrenic loser with a death wish and a grudge against society is going to head right for a "gun-free" zone like a moth to a searchlight.

On the other hand, maybe the solution isn't to arm the entire country, but to find a way to prohibit the sale of guns to paranoid schizophrenic losers.

My problem with Ted Nugent's solution is that it seems to me, if everyone in the street is carrying a gun, there is a much greater risk of someone over-reacting and shooting an innocent person. Even undercover cops get shot by their own fellow officers, and they are presumably aware of the risk and trained in how to minimize it.

On the other hand, maybe he does have a good case that a certain number of responsible adults - principals and vice-principals, for example - should perhpas have access to firearms and proper training. And teaching students that when a psycho stops to reload his Glock, that's probably the best opportunity to get together and beat the YKW out of him.

Now Nighthiker we can't have that. The next thing that may lead to is a potential rapist pausing for a moment before he attacked some co-ed and thinking to himself "man, what if she has a gun?"

Actually, compared to some other gun threads that we've had in the past, the recent ones have been downright civil.... This one seems destined for closure though.....

As soon as we start looking at changing the environment that allowed this survival situation (shooting) to take place we immediately end up in the politics arena. But I understand why we don't want to go there...

As the one who started it can I delete the entire thread? don't see that option...
