Was wondering if anyone has have experience with any of these cookware sets for backpacking solo
1. Mini Trangia T-28
2. Snow peak mini solo cookset (Ti/Alu doesn't really matter)
3. GSI outodoors Hard anodised boiler

I'm trying to decide which to get. I already have a Trangia 27-5 but that's way too much for a solo trip....

Any comments would be helpful especially those who've used them before. Thanks

My very favorite solo backpacking outfit is a Trangia 1/2 liter aluminum pot with lid. It prepares just the right amount of water for oatmeal and tea in the morning, and for the simple dinners I usually fix. I supplement it with a cup and plastic spoon.

For non solo excursions, I favor a military mountain cookset, vintage 1951 which features two 2-liter pots with matching frpan/lid. Light and sturdy - I have carried this for nearly forty years. I also occasionally pack a Bakepacker unit if I want to do some really elaborate cookig.

The GSI "Hard Anodized" stuff is great. I've been using it for a while.

Trusbx: I use the Trangia 28 for lightweight backpacking excursions (one, two, or three nights out). I think it's a great little set.

All the pieces fit into place when you're using them. The pot and lid have grooves stamped into them to make them slip-proof.

I really like the alcohol stove in general. While the Trangia stove isn't the lightest or cheapest, it is one of the most efficient and rugged. And it's certainly prettier than anything I could make myself.

I think you should get one.

Bear

Thanks!
I actually bought both in the end!
I like the alcohol stove for the fuss free factor and the fact that everything nests together. I have added the smaller cup from the GSI boiler to the T28 for cup/bowl while the rest of the T28 for cooking.
It worked pretty well for my trip downunder.

I have not tried the other stuff but I can vouch for Snowpeak. I have their 1.3 qt pot and it is nice. I have cooked a lot with it and can say it heats up well and cleans up easy. The light weight is nice too.
