I was looking for a Material Safety & Data Sheet on a product (unrelated to anything here), and stumbled across a wiki forum that is based on bird-flu preparedness. I just took a quick look, but it appeared to have useful info for ETS users.

Mind you, bird flu is not one of my big fears, but preparedness is preparedness as far as I'm concerned. They discuss Shelter in Place, and there was a reference to BugOut Bags.

UK National Health Service Preperation and Planning for Flu Pandemic

The report only assumes 2-3% mortality rate after infection. Real Bird flu is getting on for 50%. Consequently if we assume 50% mortality and apply it to the report we would have approx 1/8 of the UK population dead. The UK is apparently one of the most prepared countries in the world. A definite TEOTWAWKI event. The only way to prevent being infected is to hide under the Duvet for 3-6 months with the lights off. Oh sorry the lights will be off anyway.

Since there have only been about 200 deaths from Bird Flu in the world in the past seven years or so (widely spaced), and it hasn't mutated into a pandemic yet, nor has anything else in approximately the last 90 years, I find it somewhat difficult to believe some of the estimates given. There is also some indication that other people have been infected with the current Bird Flu and not only lived, but didn't even go to a hospital.

Anyway, I posted the links mainly as general preparedness information, not specifically as Bird Flu-preparation. There's quite a lot of info on the how & what of food storage, equipment to keep on hand, etc.
