Just thought I'd post a note about MRE Sale at Emergency Essentials. I can vouch for the taste, not to bad while hiking or camping out, my wife, kids and I eat them when we go camping in the Wasatch Mountains

Do you happen to know who manufacturers the parts? It looks like they just put together grab bags and call them MREs.

The term MRE (Meal, Ready to Eat) was coined by the military but was not patented. Anyone can stamp MRE on a product and market.

Military MRE's were stamped "US GOVT PROPERTY - NOT FOR COMMERCIAL RESALE" starting in the year 2000.

We sold thousands of cases of MRE's per year from inception after C-RATS were discontinued. All versions were worth their weight in gold for survival.

The current manufacturers of military MRE's also market a commercial product and call them MRE's. They are over priced for their content and engineering.

We have not found one manufacturer of current MRE's that sells a product worth stocking.

Although the price is a little high, (about $6.80/full MRE, with heaters included), I have found these commercially available ones from Long Life Foods pretty good. They seem to be closer to the Mil Spec versions than any of the other ones we have tried:

Warning, the Chili w/beans must be consumed and digested in a well ventilated area blush
