This is along the lines of teach-a-man-to-fish.
The penny stoves work great! I built and tested both the alcohol and the wood versions. Bravo to the designer, especially on the alcohol model.
I used a nickel to make the seal on the alcohol stove, which seemed to work better than a penny. But otherwise, it worked as described.
It took me four attempts to make a working version from Pepsi cans. They are very thin cans and easy to overcut.
The wood version is much easier to make.
I think I am going to use it as my primary packing stove after a little more testing and tweaking to solid up the stakes.
I think I will also keep a baggy of fatwood chips with the stove to make it even easier to get it going.
