DHMO warning - filters are useless!

A friend who has a brother at the EPA told me that the government just issued another warning about the compound dihydrogen monoxide (DHMO). This issue should be taken VERY seriously by anyone venturing into the outdoors today. DHMO is colorless, tasteless, and CAN NOT be filtered out or neutralized with chemicals. According to my friend's brother, the EPA continues to find DHMO in record amounts in rivers, streams, and even in rainfall. DHMO was one of the largest chemical compounds found during the flooding in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, and is still found in nearly all of the affected areas - something I can personally attest to. Factories, sewerage treatment plants, and even cars release millions of gallons DHMO into the environment yearly. It is in the food chain, and it has been detected in every one of the world's oceans. It only takes a few ounces to kill a human, and DHMO has been conclusively linked to hundreds of deaths in the US each year. I urge everyone at ETS to see this video about dihydrogen monoxide, and a petition drive to have it banned. Have a great day today! .....CLIFF UPDATE: 2 April (or, 33 March) - OK, it was revealed to me last night that the whole DHMO thing is a joke. A hoax. I had no idea. I feel so embarrassed. DHMO is, in fact good for you! They even sell it in stores! Who knew?!? I mean, I’m an LSU grad - but I guess that’s only a partial excuse. April Fool’s is over, so let’s stop commenting here and get back to discussing things survivish. I hope this will be DHMO under the bridge now, and we will return to trading, and commenting on, lists of all the stuff we hamster into our pockets, packs and cars. Oh, and can we keep my faux pas our little secret? I have a reputation to maintain, you know. .....CLIFF

DHMO is everywhere, we can't get away from it, it totally affects our living.

I used to work in a lab, and I can vouch for the extensive use of DHMO in cleaning lab glassware. At times they'd just let the stuff flow down the sink drains.
I've been told that if we get enough of this stuff in the atmosphere it can actually fall back to the Earth thousands of miles away from its original source.
Where is Al Gore when we need him??!!!!

Yes, a scary thing indeed I assume your EPA friend also mentioned their other recent discovery of biblical proportions... yes, they verified that virtually all of the inhabitable planet is covered with a gaseous mixture of about 78% Nitrogen, 21% Oxygen, and 1% Argon. Oh the horrors if that continues

NO! He said nothing about that!!!
Are you sure that's worldwide, and not just somebody taking a reading in, say, Sommerville or Nahant, or during rush hour in the Ted Williams? Should I put on that gas mask I bought for Y2K?
Worried,

Somebody really should do something about this! This is scary stuff. But I have to disagree with you about the filters. I have a super duper filter that works every time on DHMO!

Y'know, Doug said that boiling can take care of all the DHMO threat. I guess the old ways still work best.

Well, the real danger is best illustrated by it's alternative name- hydrogen hydroxide, or H(OH). Anyone who's passed even the most basic history course will recognize it as a highly ionized compound, not to mention an unstable one. It debonds into explosive a hydrogen and oxygen with relatively little difficulty.

I've never had a problem with an Evian bottle spontaniously exploding, so I guess it's all just hydrogen hydroxide under the bridge, don't you think?
I promise to start commenting on stoves tomorrow.

The scary thing about DHMO is that everyone who comes into contact with it dies. Not right away, but decades later. You would think it would be classified as a Hazardous Material.

DHMO can also be found in nuclear reactors. DHMO is considered so dangerous when used in nuclear power reactors, that in the United Kingdom they use CDO instead as a nuclear reactor coolant. Incorrect management of DHMO when used as a coolant led to the 3-mile Island and Chernobyl nuclear disasters. The greedy corporations use DHMO in nuclear reactors because it is much more profitable and cheaper to use rather than using safer technology.

Additional dangers of dihydrogen monoxide (also known as Hydric Acid as pointed out by its Material Safety Data Sheet [MSDS]) can be found at DHMO.org. There?s a lot of useful information there. Also, to make your filters effective against dihydrogen monoxide, it?s recommended that you remove your filter?s cartridge, cover it completely with plastic wrap (cling-film for the UK-ers), then reinstall the cartridge.

You folks have just barely scratched the surface. What no one has mentioned yet is that DHMO it the #1 greenhouse gas, much worse than CO2! Scientists think that DHMO in its various forms may be responsible for up to 90% of the earth's greenhouse effect.
And we thought Al Gore's heated swimming pool made him a hypocrite just because of the energy it uses. No, its worse, all that DHMO evaporating from the pool is also contributing to the problem!

Someone pointed out to me that if you use a filter long enough that it actually reduces the amount of DHMO that will get through a filter.
There is still hope.
