I am looking for a FAK bag, and am a bit overwhelmed by the choices on the net. Is anybody very impressed with any particular FAK bag that they are using?

I like Otterboxes or the smaller Pelican cases. The Nalgene bottle is a great idea. It may be a bit hard to get the FAK contents out if you cut yourself then try to get stuff out while applying direct pressure to yourself.
I also have some FAKs using an Outdoor Research zippered pouch that has a mesh pocket on one side and the other side has a fold out organizer kind of like a mechanics tool roll for wrenches. I havent seen that model pouch for awhile. It has great access for a lot of small stuff. The big downsides are that it isnt rigid to protect the contents like an instant cold pack. And that it isnt waterproof if you get caught in a downpour.

I really like that red one with the clear plastic compartments. I'm going to have to get me one of those. Nice post. I also love the water bags like this one . Being able see all your stuff is something I really like. Except it does make hiding your Glock at the bottom a challenge, but nothing a small towel can't cover up.

How big did you have in mind? And how complete is your kit? Both factors come into play.

I use a bag/soft case that is used for holding rubber fishing worms. It is first aid red and a bit of careful cutting took the manufacturers patch off. The zip seal bags they use are clear and very tough. They are also non-reactive bags, so if something leaks it won't eat through. http://www.anglersupply.com/product.cfm?model=Worm%20Wrap&manufacturer=Tackle%20Logic&type=Tackle%20Storage%20%26%20Cases
I have several of them. 2 of the larger (shown in the link) for the house and truck, and a smaller one that is 8"x6" for my pack/BOB. I've had them for 5 or 6 years now, and they have been very durable. (the one in the link shows manufactures bags in the case, they come with clear empty bags)
It zips open completely and you can page through to find exactly what you want, like a notebook. I have an amazing amount of stuff neatly organized and easy to find. It came with extra adhesive tabs, so you can stick them on your own zip seal bags and put them in the binder rings. You can also buy extra bags. I can highly recommend this bag, it has been perfect for me. (I bought mine in a local sporting goods store.)

Hi, balrog, Re, OR first aid bags, I don't think they make them any more. For rigidity, try a folded SAM splint. For water proofing try vacuum sealing the larger dressings and get some small zip locks from the pharmacy (they dispense unit dose meds in them) for the small stuff. Regards, Jim
