Here's a really scary story my client just told me yesterday. She was leaving work and getting into her car in the parking garage. Another lady who she didn't know was leaving at the same time. My client is a little more cautious than most and keeps her eyes open all the time. After the other lady got into her car, my client saw a guy's head pop up from the back seat of the other lady's car and duck back down several times. He was careful to keep himself directly behind the driver's seat and headrest.

The lady drove off oblivious to my client's attempts to get her attention. So my client followed her honking her horn. That lady had no clue, she just kept on going. My client followed her for about 20-30 minutes until the lady got home. All the constant honking attracted a lot of attention when the lady pulled over. So family members came out of the house. When she fully stopped her car, the guy bolted out of there and took off. I was telling my client that she probably saved that lady's life.

ALWAYS take a peek in the back seat area before you get into your car!!

I think that may be an urban legend...seems I've heard that one a few times. Found it here... http://urbanlegends.about.com/od/horrors/a/killer_backseat.htm

Why post this and try to pass it off as your own story...

Passing it off as my own story is not my intent. I have heard similar stories over the years. This time, I heard it directly from my client's mouth to my ear on Friday and she tells me that she personally saw it and was involved as described. I do not see her as a liar and she has nothing to gain in relating that to me. Just as I have nothing to gain for passing it on. I was not there and I do not think you were either, unless you were a family member or the guy in the car, so I take it with a grain of salt as I can neither confirm or deny her story.

My intent is just to say, "be careful."

Variations on this story have been around for at least 27 years that I know of. Everyone says it's a hoax, including Snopes.

But... just because there are no 'known' incidents (documented, notarized, published by newspaper or eyewitness videos) doesn't mean it hasn't happened. And even if it hasn't happened, there's no law that it couldn't happen. Besides, there are enough stupid people that if it hasn't happened, it's just because of dumb luck more than anything else. It's just another form of carjacking, isn't it?

Sorry, I didnt mean to spark controversy here, and wasn't calling anyone a liar. I just try to point out to people not to believe everything they read/hear. I still get emails from relatives to pass on some chain letter, and Bill gates will send me $5 for every address I send it to. Still waiting on my check from Billy Boy. smile

No controversy to me. I have heard those stories for decades too. This is the first time I have heard it from someone claiming to experience it directly. True? False? Who knows?

I take almost everything I hear with a grain of salt, sometimes including when someone tells me to be careful. What can I say, I'm a guy.

My only point to to say "be careful" and watch your six.
