I was talking to a friend about my survival tin and how I thought that putting chapstick in there wasted space. He pulled out a tube of Hudsalva Försvarets Swedish lip balm from his pocket (great timing, eh?) and told me he thinks it is the greatest thing since sliced bread. It is not petroleum based like normal lip balms, it is made of oils and fat.**

I went to order some for myself and discovered the following:

- Originally developed for the Swedish military to prevent blisters on feet
- Can be used to cook/fry with
- Can be eaten
- Can be used as a lubricant/oil (bike chain, etc)
- Can be turned into a candle (stick a wick in the middle)
- If you are trying to impress the bears, can be used as hair gel
- Said to cure rashes and soars, sweaty limbs and dental decay if rubbed on the gums for 20 minutes, treatment for acute mountain sickness

Where else can you find something that can grease your bike chain and spike your hair at the same time? The Swedes rock!

oef... 16 dollars ! thats a lot of money!

Well 16 bucks sounds like robbery.

If you are dieing to get your hands on some let me know and Ill pop by my local drugstore and send you some. I think they cost about a dollar mabye 1.50 and then shiping and I think I can manage a paypal account. Mabye we'll end up close to $16 anyway and I cant help but wonder what the US customs thinks of them.

There is a chanse that I can get them sheaper at our local military base. Ill have to check in to that if you are interested.
