got me thinking about another bit of gear for a BOB..safety
glasses..i wear glasses all the time and more that once i have
something bounce off them that i would not want in my eye..
on the subject of eyes..i also take the best over the counter
eye wash i can find..i went to using a campstove rather than
open fires because of the "smoke in the eyes issue"

I carry safety/ sun glasses in several of my kits for just that reason. (plus saline for contacts.)

( I use construction safety sun glasses ( no side sheilds) get them for about $10 at the home store.)

I wear glasses and because I work in the construction field they are OSHA approved safety glasses with removeable side shields. I also keep an extra pair in my car and a pair in my BOB with cleaning solution and a soft rag along with an assortment of screws and tools for them too.

Same here. A while ago I decided I wanted a pair of cheap sunglasses to put in my Jeep for times when I did not want to risk damaging my oakleys. Figured I may as well buy safety glasses just in case. They sure have come in handy

I have a set of WileyX PT1's that I bought for Trap and Skeet. Change out the rose lenses for clear or smoke and you have good eye protection. I used them other day while pruning some really spikey plants -- excellent insurance.

Before I needed glasses to actually see, I made my living sometimes standing on the side of I-5, with traffic zooming past only a few feet from me, and I often got hit by rocks or whatever that they happened to throw up from the road. I always wore safety sunglasses, and started wearing clear safety glasses when the sun went down. I had another pair in my workshop, they went on as soon as I walked in the door. Now that I have to wear glasses all the time anyway, that problem is solved. I also carry a pair of GI goggles in my vehicles, just in case I have to get out in a sand storm or something. There are better goggles around, but I already own these, they fit over my glasses, and seal pretty well...

With rose or vermilion lenses, how close are they to red "night" light? Just an idea- carry vermilion safety glasses, and you don't have to worry as much about dazzle using a white light at night?

Interesting thought. WileyX calls the color "Pale Rose" and they also sell "Light Rust". "Pale Rose" is in the frame now; I'll try them both at night to see how they work.

Every time I go afield hunting I wear my shooting glasses, no matter the light conditions. For one they improve overall visability, making things brighter, and they have saved my eyes from Lord knows how many thorn branches raking across my face following the dogs into some of the thickest stuff imaginable.

ON a related note, Work gloves are cheap and useful-- i have several pair in various kits.
