I've previously used 35mm film canisters to store small objects in my PSK, BOB and FAK and have found them to be very useful. During this recent cold/flu season, a friend gave me a tube of Airborne with one tablet left and suggested I take it. I'm not saying if the stuff works or not but 2 days later I was coughing, sneezing, etc. The plastic container on the other hand is great! Not only is it bigger than a film canister but if you pop off the top and look under it, there seems to be an oxygen absorber built right into the lid. I can see this being a real advantage for storing fire making materials or anything else where moisture could be a problem. I bought a generic tube and it had the same feature (was a lot cheaper too). |

"... I bought a generic tube..."
Where did you get it? I have used some of the tubes that mini-M&M's come in, but I'm not really happy with the seal on the cap...

I should have been a little clearer, I didn't buy just the tube, I bought a generic brand of Airborne from CVS. I'm fairly certain that any brand of this stuff: will have the same tube properties. And you're right about the mini-M&M's, I've found that unlike the Airborne tubes they are not always watertight. |

That's funny, I bought some for a cold a couple of weeks ago and thought it was a great container. I put in a whole box of REI stormproof matches and the strikers in the plastic sheath in mine, they fit snugly without being tight. Those are long matches and won't fit most containers. I did have to take a sharp knife and cut the oxygen absorber and the springy plastic thingy off. Because the lip of the lid sticks out I thought it might catch on something and pull off, so I wrapped 5 or 6 feet of orange duct tape around the container. Enough to make the final diameter the same as the diameter of the lid and about 1/2" gap to get your finger in to easily pop the lid off.
Get rid of your cold a little faster AND get a good match container....it's all good!

Ask at a pharmacy for a few pill bottles and lids. They usually give them to you for no charge, or at least give them to me. Toy can get them in assorted sizes, and a non-child safe cap can easily be wrapped in Electrical tape to add to the fluid resistance.
