Is anyone here take aspirin daily as preventive treatment of heart attack? Aspirin is proven to prevent the formation of fat plagues on artery veins.

I take two "baby" aspirin per day, under Dr.'s orders. I had five heart bypasses two years ago and the aspirin is part of a comprehensive post operative strategy. I never had a heart attack and no heart damage. Just some symptoms that I was smart enough to respond to and had what turned out to be very successful surgery. I'm now in the best shape of my life and travel in the wilderness, camping, hiking on a regular basis (lifelong habits)

I have been on 85mg, once per day, for seven years. Dr's orders after a heart attack. Started out on a regular aspirin once per day, but had complications.

After a 2003 angiogram I was prescribed aspirin and a variety of other meds. I take the aspirin (85mg) dose daily and seem to have no problems. Yesterday I had a colonoscopy (colon cancer runs in my family) and I appear to be the first to not have polyps removed. May be a coincidence, but I understand that aspirin may reduce the chance of colon cancer.
Like any drug, it should be used in accordance with your doctor's advice. It's not a cure-all, but it may be a low cost tool to reduce some of the health risks.

Instead of aspirin I take a 1000 mg fish oil pill every morning. Not only thins the blood, but also has Omega-3 Fatty Acids that my brain & heart must have.
I'm 40 now & as I approach 50 I'll probably bump this up to two pills a day.

I take one aspirin a day, full strength ones too. And I also take aspirin for those little aches and pains. Been doing it for years, along with my BP meds (old age you know). I have always been a fast clotter, and the aspirin doesn't seem to have affected that one bit. I tried fish oil pills, but when I got sweaty (I was still working for a living then) I started to smell like a fish market, and no one would have coffee with me anymore, so I stopped them. Tried garlic pills, same thing...

I use 85 mg. "enteric" coated. This kind is easier on the stomach. By the way, aspirin and alcohol together are especially hard on the stomach.

I use the Kirkland generic. Guess I have a cast iron stomach or something, I take 800mg motrin without a problem too.
No problem with the aspirin-alcohol mix, I have put myself on the wagon while in Washington, booze costs too much up here for my pocketbook...
