Have you tried the Esbit with a home-made alcohol stove by any chance? Since I wasn't able to get water to boil no matter what I tried before, I was thinking of making an alcohol stove, but I will try the wind screens first.
i assume you mean a alcohol stove, seperatly? I never had trouble boiling water with an alcohol stove, made many meals on them, there also much cheaper. The too, work best with an windscreen.
