I didn't know that you had birch in Howareya. Being a former flatlander from CA, I had never had a chance to play with birch 'til we went to Alaska last year. It is really neat stuff. My son had given me a book that, in addition to a lot of other great info, showed how to make cups and other goodies out of birchbark. And it does burn well! I even bought a bunch back with us, just to play with...
