I just received a military surplus survival sled from EBAY. The seller has had several of them for sale from time to time. There is one listed now with good pictures. Item number: 320079041086
I have several survival sleds that I use for hunting and winter camping. This one is the smallest and lightest. It is worth reviewing. It will hold two large backpacks set end to end.
The belt-harness that is included is very well done in typical military quality. It includes a waist belt, suspenders and attachment points for the sled rods.
A picture is a 1000 words. The listing has 12 pictures. This is a very serious sled.
We will test it tomorrow on the Scott Mtn trail. The trail starts on GOOGLE EARTH at N44.070546 W115.757921. Park your 4WD here.
The best alpine camp in the area is - N44.172114 W115.727992. It is a natural ring of scrub pine trees that provides excellent shelter.
Virtual hikers can input the start and finish into the GOOGLE EARTH DIRECTIONS tab and click on TOUR. You will fly over the trail.
This is a self rescue hike. No phone booths, no bus stops and no tire tracks. A front is coming in so pack warm.
We will have dogs in camp for protection and early warning. Firearms are necessary to protect the dogs
See you there.
