I don't really know. MIne is designed for staying with the vehicle, or at home. The older I get, the less I am able to hike long distances with a heavy load, and my wife has a bumb knee, really limiting her long distance walking. I do keep an empty day and a half sized pack in the vehicle, just in case. I can always load it up with the essentials and try walking out is that is the ONLY option...
