You could save some space and weight by getting rid of the blister cards that the saw, mirror, and iodine come in...

Hi teacher....
I seen in one of your pictures that you have a First Need purifier. How do you like it? How long have you had it? Any info you could provide would be appreciated.

I'm not teacher. But I have had a First Need Deluxe filter for several years. I have yet to have any problems with it, and the original filter cartridge is still going strong after several gallons of water. When I pack it in the sack for storage or carying on a hiking trip, the hose stays kinked, which restricts the water flow somewhat, but that's a minor nitpick. I would recommend it.

I used to have one too, 'til I gave it to my step-son. He is still using it. It seemed to be a little harder to pump than the PUR I now have, but they have pretty much changed the design of the whole thing since then, maybe that took care of that little problem. Or maybe it was just me.

I would buy another one in a heartbeat. In face, since it purifies, and PUR no longer (as far as I know anyway) makes a purifying filter, I would buy it first...
