Anybody get a chance to try this yet? It was discussed a while back but I never did hear if anybody seriously tried it. This was supposed to be used for a great fire starter...

Would appreciate any feedback.

I thought about it, but I hate Cheeto's, and if for some reason they didn't burn up, what in the heck would I do with them???

I can't respond about Cheetos, but, I have hard evidence to support the flamability of Cheeze-It's, even without magnesium. This involved some very scientific tests at a campfire. It appears that some of my more inquisitive boys were studying the effects of fire on their favorite snack foods. Something about the 8grams of fat per serving of Cheeze-It's that seemed to do the trick.

Still, I think they are too good to waste unless it's a survival situation.

I did try cornchips after seeing Survivalman. They work great, however I must admit; it would be hard not to eat them.

Tell ya what -

I have the space, the place and the equipment to make a wax-covered magnesium-dipped Cheeto flammability test video - so I'll take a run to the store and put the test together this weekend. Sounds like it could be fun.

I'll bet the chips didn't make it through the game. I know mine didn't.....

What kind of flavor does the magnesium add?

Well, we have been under a "no-hydrogenated-oils" policy here at Chez Marty for the last 6 years, and as a result, I've been "under the radar" with this project. Sneaking cheetos into the house is only slightly more taboo than, say, sneaking a purchase of an RV into the driveway. Add to that my camcorder - which is less than 2 years old - has died (again) and as a result I've not been able to record my exploits thus far. That said, this evening represents a good opportunity to procure said toxic products and to make an attempt this coming weekend.

I suppose you could use them for fish bait.

Anybody here get a chance to test it out yet?
