I've got a sharpening system for the house, but in the ever lasting quest to bug out light, I'd like to get a sharpening stone. Where do you get just the stone, the kind that would fit in the little pouch in a knife sheath?

Two places that I can think of - excluding internet purchasing:
Higher end knife shops - including hunting stores and such.
Higher end tool shops - here in the Chicago burbs we have a chain called Berland's House of Tools that has all sorts of great gear (GB axes, nice saws, LM knives, Streamlight, UK, and other nice flashlights, etc...).

I don't know if this is small enough for your needs (it's 4"X1"), but I have one of these Buck sharpeners and it works great. The price here isn't bad either. http://store.dauvensfishinhole.com/4125306.html

www.ragweedforge.com Ragnar has both diamond plates and a traditional viking stone in small sizes. The stones, besides beautifull ( who says survival has to be grim black epoxy or international orange <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />) do a very good job within their limits. The smalll two sided diamond plate lends itself to many ways of attachment. On my old Cold Steel SRK I slipped it underneath the paracord wrapped around the sheath. You might also consider a few sheets of wet/dry sandpaper in your PSK. Lee Valley tools sells superb sheets used for wood chisels.

I second the motion for wt/dry paper. I use 1/2 sheet 220, 600, and 800. I would get a few sheets at your local NAPA or other auto parts that sells auto paint and supplies. I order from Lee Valley and other woodworking supplies quite a bit, and if all you get is the sandpaper, you'll pay more in shipping than you need to.
That selection of grits I mentioned isn;t what you'd use at home, of course, just for use in the field if you had to dress up your edge. I've also recently began to carry a diamond rod sharpener that retracts into a pen-like tube and is no bigger than a writing pen...just in case I had to take some or all of a ding or two out. I think I picked it up at Lowes for about $9

Any cutlery store should have them, any sporting goods store, and Wallyworld type store in the sporting goods section, any hardware store (they usually have a portable glass fronted case with knife and some stones, many times located near the checkout). I have many diffrerent type so sharpening tools, for what you want I would suggest a diamond type of "stone," either a small flat one, or my latest carry tool, one of the long skinny types, flat on one side, the rest round, which stores in a case about the size of a ball point pen (I tried to find a pic to post and couldn't). Diamond is nice because you don't need oil, water, anything, to use it...

I have 2 of them, one sits beside one of the original LM in its nylon sheath. The other is with my V Swiss tool, Mag light, and Sharpie in an Nite Ize Mini Pock-Its case. It is made by EZ lap and the Scout Store has them. I need to think about getting a third to keep in mu Go bag

WoodCraft, or any tool/supplies store that services woodworkers. There is a wide variety of stones in many sizes and shapes.
