We bought a temporal scan thermometer a couple of years ago on advice from the pedeiatrician's office. It is fast and accurate and you can take a temperature while the kids are sleeping.

1. Put it into warm tap water and see if it changes.

2. If it doesn't change, could the battery be dead?
