Ok, after a long time researching. I finally found a place that sells the airtight flint lighter. They sell these for a $1.88 a piece and it rocks as a survival fire starter. I went and put extra flint in a CVS nitroglycerin tube and lighter fluid in another. It gives the capability of starting fires for quite awhile. It's waterproof to 200 feet and solid. I still have the Swiss army flint rod and a CVS Wallet magnifier lens as backups. In my opinion, caring man made tinder (cotton with Vaseline, dryer lint, etc..) is no difference than carrying a little lighter fluid. It's cheating either way. Cotton with Vaseline, dryer lint, etc. gives a few lights with the lite my fire steel but nothing compared to this. I still keep back ups, but this has excellent potential. I have one on my key chain that I always carry and one in by backpack with 2 big CVS stainless pill holders for fluid and one for flint. It's small and the weight is extremely minimal. I unfortunately paid more before I found this site but even at a higher price, it was still worth ever penny.

KM Match Case

I'd would be curious to see if anyone has ever ordered from these folks. The above mentioned lighter, as well as this one http://www.chinahorde.com/product.html?cid=12&pid=381 really caught my eye.

The one I ordered was from E-bay but here is another site I found. I haven't ordered from the other site, just E-bay.

I think they will both get too hot to handle if left lit for more than a few seconds. I have one of the Blank 1000 Match Lighter called a metal match when I bought it.

It works great but does get very hot. So if you have your tinder bundle prepared and just need a quick flame, great. Need a flame longer than that and it might not be very practical.

If you are looking for cheap and small, I would rather have a BSA hotspark like this one:

I looked at the site and the description said: Just put OIL in the cotton and ready.
What kind of oil?. Does it mean that it doesn't use lighter fluid or butane?.

I know what you saying Juddzilla, the two sites look identical and they stopped taking paypal. The only way I would try that is to use an American Express. They have an awesome online protection and it's my primary internet buying card. It's a great lighter and I'm kinda of glad I brought it from E-bay. You can hold it for a little while in your hand before it gets hot and if you keep it lit for awhile and blow out the flame, it makes a good hand warmer.

Definitely lighter fluid. I would like to take one of my extra ones and try alcohol. If that works too, I could use the same fuel as for a alcohol stove.
