I figured if we put a month in the thread then after a month it could be locked and another one started, this would help the people whos system can't handle the long threads.

Great Idea to change the thread.

Let me start it off - I began reorganizing (read updating, repacking, re-inventorying) my BoB and my ESK (Emergency Survival Kit). I had added to and used up and taken away from both kits since the summer and never gotten around to doing this. What a mess! I really need to make the time to do this immediately after using the kits (after trips). <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Well, I ordered a Rescue Laser Light to add to my kit for night signalling.

The decision was based upon three recent things:

1. Doug's recent very favorable review. I liked that it is pretty small and really tough.

2. The story of the climber stuck over night on a cliff who, unable to signal them, could only watch rescuers off in the distance during the night.

3. Watched one of those "survival" TV shows about a man & women who were diving over an undersea volcano and the currrent pulled them way far away from their pre-arranged pickup location. They saw searchers twice but couldn't signal them. They finally ended up swimming back to land though this increased risk of shark attack.

I also ordered several bright orange plastic tarps for camping and my car kit.

Well I used the last of my X-mas gift cards today (Home Depot) and picked up a Coast LED Lenser light (5 white LEDS and 1 red LED) as I can't seem to find my other EDC light i had. Got some new ratchet straps, a roll of jute twine (for firestarting) and a 2 step stool so my GF can reach the dishes on top of the cupboard without having to holler at me to come do it.

I have replaced all of my stored water and made a modification to the garage "emergency shelter" so that a head space is now reserved & equipped. I reorganized my BOB (bigger pack & more goodies).
I still have to put my stored gas into my vehicles and refill the cans with Stabil & gas. I'm going shopping for my rations and some small odds & ends of equipment.

I have re-organized my tool boxes . Somehow I found one of them with five pliers while the other had none. Same for screw drivers and other pieces. Now, I have one tool kit per vehicle, Two kits at home, one small 'travel' tool kit in the BOB, and one to be added to my cache.

Small 'travel' tool kit consists of a plier (large long nose) , two sided screwdriver, multi-tool or SAK, folded coat hanger wire, and a tweezer.

'Travel' here means land travel.

laid in an extra bag of rice, some extra pasta, some beans (monthly trip to Costco). Spent extra time with Mom and Dad - BOTH ended up in the hospital this week
