That's what I've done in the past. Filter out large sediment and particles with a folded over cotton bandana, then boil the water or treat it with Katadyn Micropur MP1.

The problem with boiling though, is it takes a long time to heat and then cool down the water. The MP1 is great, but it has a shelf life, so I end up replacing it often. The Miox and SteriPen look pretty cool, but then I have worry about batteries (and salt).

I was thinking that, for my truck, a filter/purifier would be good as it doesn't have a shelf life, is faster than boiling or the tabs, and doesn't have any batteries to worry about. But, if there really is that much doubt as to their effectiveness, than I'll just stick to my old tried and true methods. <img src="/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />
