Has anyone here ever made one of these? I am looking for something visual to show how to braid the cord, for a necklace. I have seen them before, did a couple of quick searches here, and came up with nothing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

There is a post about 550 cord bracelets in the forum, in one of the last posts you can see the macrame knot used.. You can make any length that you want if this is the style of necklace that you want. Also, you can search the web for Macrame Knots and find many more that you might wnat to try for your necklace.

Here's a link to a recent discussion of Paracord Survival Bracelets in the ETS forums, which will get you to a few illustrations and examples.

this site has step-by-step pictures for a bracelet that you may be able to use....it's a little confusing to get started but once it's started, it's easy to continue.

Not a good idea guys, unless you join the two ends with something that will break, like dog tag chain.

My father( a police officer) always wore a clip-on tie so that if the bad guy grabbed it, it would pull off, rather than pulling his head with it.

Try this. Slatt's Rescue Belt

Belts made from 550 cord. But the knot will work with any size cordage. You can make any size or shape you desire. The only limitation is your imagination. I've even made pot holders of 550 as an extra source. Cordage stored this way doesn't tangle.

You're right, but I don't even trust a dogtag chain to break (those suckers are pretty tough, I saw a guy hang his up coming down from an upper bunk once, it almost broke his neck). I prefer connecting the two ends of something like a dogtag chain with some heat shrink tubing, under stress the ends of the chain (or paracord I suspect) will slide out of the heat shrink...
