I recently acquired a Konustar compass with clinometer and sighting eyepiece etc. I bought it second hand and don't have instructions. I have e-mailed Konus directly, but have not received anything from them yet. Does anybody have one of these? Do you have a set of instructions perhaps? Is it a good compass? Thank you very much.

It sounds like you have a military type lensatic compass. Is this a east european company? There are many good books that describe the operating principles of these units. If you can get a S.A. military manual on land navigating it should explain all.

Hi Chris. Thanks for your response. Konus is actually an Italian company with a subsidiary in USA also. It is a lensatic type compass but has the azimuth markings of 0-360 degrees, as opposed to military markings. I believe it is a mountaineering, surveying, engineering type compass. The web site is www.konus.com. I have asked for the instructions and see what they say. I have a good idea on how to use a compass generally but would like more detail on this model. Thanks for the input.
