Having a knife is essential for survival almost anywhere, but how do you take them anywhere if they're not alowed on the plane???

Yes you can check them in. Just don't do it at the last moment at the ticket counter and stash it in one of the outside pockets. I did just that with my leatherman and it was stolen. Now whenever I travel I put mu knives and leatherman deep into my check in bag.

Matt

If you cnnot check them into cargo you ship them ahead.

I've generally found that using FedEx or DHL works fine for shipping ahead if you don't have checked baggage.

When I do check a bag, it has my small folder and a multitool packed in the back bottom, usually bundled up in a handkerchief.
