So, for christmas I got a nice pair of Carhartt fleece lined (polyester) denim jeans:

I was wondering how these might perform in an unexpected survival situation.

Does the fleece lining negate the killer cotton denim shell? Will the cotton kill you slower with a fleece lining, or is there no benefit at all if they get wet?

Opinions?

I thought about this idea but I came to the conclusion that it was more natural and versatile to just get regular jeans and put longjohns under them. Also the air layer between the pants and longjohns will also insulate and you can always remove your jeans if they get wet. Cotton as an outerwear is better than when it touches the skin, they even use cotton fibers in the warmest parkas made by Canada Goose. That's my two cents.

I have a pair and they are ok (my wife really loves her pair!!) but I do better with a pair of long johns under the jeans and long johns under something that dries faster for worse conditions. I have several pair of loose fitting Dickies that move better while layered and dry faster than jeans. I would rather have wool or something like that but I think I could survive quite a long time in my area in my Dickies if I was in long johns and half way decent jacket!
