For the last 421 days, my son has been coveting this "Robosapien" thing - it's about 24" tall, it sings, dances, and much more.
It's power requirements are roughly equivalent to a small hospital, as a result, when I bought the thing in November, I also bought 1,200 "D" cells and another 800 "AA" cells to get us through Christmas morning.
Imagine my dismay this morning when I realized - after my son had literally jumped up and down with joy upon opening the robot - that the thing uses "AAA" - NOT "AA" cells in addition to the 1,200 "D" cells.
No problem, I'll take some "AAA" cells out of the Walkie-talkies. Whoops. They are "AA" also. I'll take some out of the various remote controls. Whoops! Various strange button cells, "N" cells and only two "AAA" to be found.
And then I remember - in the household emergency cabinet, locked up in the basement, top shelf, right side, in the box labeled "Batteries and Chargers" - a brick of 24 "AAA" cells in among the D's, AA's, CR123's and even a few "N" cells.
If this does not count as an "emergency" I don't know what does. I emerge from the basement, AAA cells in hand, CHRISTMAS IS SAVED!
The darn thing is pretty amazing, both my son and I get a kick out of it, but my cats took one look at the thing and departed for the next county.
Hope your day is going well, and merry christmas to all!
