There is a good led conversion for the Solitaire over at Lighthound
Lighthound

Pro
It provides a decent spot beam with good side scatter & some focusing ability. The spare bulb in the tail cap can be substituted back in if necessary. Light output is better than stock & closer to white (slight bluish tint on the one I rec'vd). Four hour run time.

Con
The lamp bezel will not screw completely down. This interferes with the o-ring seal some (the one I tried it in fails the blow test some even w/o the upgrade). I'd rate it at least dunkable. Maybe better if the light had a good seal to start with. You might be able to replace the factory o-ring with a thicker one & get a better seal.

I was thinking closer to water resistant such as fall in the river & swim to shore w/o leaking. Comparing the seal on a 2AA (Niteize LED) w/ the Solitaire (stock), the 2AA has a tight seal where the Solitaire leaked.

Unless a company specifically states water proof with a depth, I'd assume only water resistant, especially if it used a rotating switch like the Mag lights.

Aluminum doesn't rust.
I left a 2AAA in my pocket and washed it. One of the pins on the bulb rusted so I replaced it and used the light for years afterward.

Self-defence (I live in NYC, The Land Where The Second Amendment Died). I keep a 6D next to my bed.

Its ability to throw light is a useful side benefit.
