Ade,

FWIW, I have one of the Myerchin "Lightknives", the one with the marlinspike, and it's certainly not sticky. Once it got broken in, it opens easily one-handed and locks up very nicely. It's a solid, sturdy piece that inspires confidence. The edges of the thumb-opening hole/slot are a little on the sharp side, and I've thought of stoning them down a bit... on the other hand, if everything is wet, maybe that's better.

The LED light itself is a bit iffy. It's not one of the new-generation LEDs, and doesn't put out nearly the light of a Photon or similar. The switching mechanism is a bit primitive, and changing batteries requires small screwdrivers, delicate reassembly and attention to a little foam gasket-thingy that certainly seems prone to loss. Not sure it's worth the extra bulk.

The biggest negatives to the knife are it's weight and bulk, but that's common to anything with a steel marlinspike. You'd think this would be an ideal application for titanium, and very welcome. I'd bet a titanium marlinspike could cut the weight of this knfe by at least a third- admittedly, at a much higher price.
