Pelican M1 LED Old Style



I managed to get this light for what I think was a steal at the SC Firefighter Association Show in Myrtle Beach. I picked it up from the Pelican Dealer for $15.00 of course my dad was buying a few cases from him so that probably didn’t hurt any.





The light uses 1 CR123 to provide 3 hours of power and 26 lumens. This light will not provide the kind of blinding light one would get with a Surefire or a Pelican M6 or PM6 but it does a good job of lighting up whatever you need to identify, The flashlight bezel and battery cap have flat sides to help prevent this light from rolling around. I have been carrying this light in my weak side front pocket for about four months now and have really come to like it a lot. It is light enough even though it is aluminum and not plastic that I don’t notice it throughout the day except for when I need to fish something out of my pocket. It fits really well in the magazine pocket of 5.11 pants.

The downside of the light I have is that it lacks a pocket clip, lanyard attachment and a tail cap switch. I just tried the lanyard attachment ring for my Surefire G2 and it fits but does not allow the ring to move around the body of the light the way it would on the G2. For $15 dollars I think I got a pretty good deal on a quality light. I have really become impressed with Pelican lights in the last 6 months or so.

I got a Pelican supersabre LED a couple of years ago for work. It's been used as a hammer, subjected to grease and carbon dust, and taken a couple of falls onto cement of more than 50 feet. The clip broke off, but it's still the best flashlight I've ever owned. Really good idea too, shine the LED in on a reflector to focus the beam, instead of having the LED shine out and loose a lot of light because of diffusion.

try a RCR123 with it, I'm using one in mine right now. with the low discharge rate of the li-ion battery, I don't have to worry about whether the battery will be good when I need it.
