Rubbermaid containers resist mice and rat attacks pretty well, and they are cheap! I used to raise rats and mice by the hundreds in these containers and never once did I have an escape due to chewing through the container. I have no idea why they don't chew through them, but they really don't. In fact, they are the most used breeding containers that I am aware of due to that very fact. They're also stackable, and as I said before, really really cheap. Give it a try and see how it works for you.
