Hi,

What is your favorite Thermos to keep hot chocolate or ginger tea (not diuretic) warm and all that, and which one is more suitable for BOB in cold climate regions (below freezing) and what's the most versatile, etc... I'm looking at the Thermos "Element 5", they look suitable for X-treme situations but on the other hand they don't look very lightweight at first glance.

I have a Nissan vacuum bottle and a Nissan thermos (1 pint & 1 Qt.) The 1 Qt version kept my coffee hot after laying in a snowbank all night. They are much better than my old Aladdin thermos. The Aladdin is guaranteed for life though. I always preheat mine with boiling water for about 10 minutes and that makes a huge difference.

Edit: I corrected the sizes. Here is a link. The reviews bear out my suspicions that these are pretty good.

Thank you. I think the Nissan will be more than adequate. A potential life saver in a survival situation. I may write "urinating bottle" on a Nalgene one for use in X-treme cold waves to protect against the wind or for use inside a snow cave. (We have to prepare for all kind of little emergencies) Thanks for the tips.

Many of the towboaters Ii am not 1) use 1 qt ziplock bags for urine & then toss them away (into the waterway). This is an illegal act and a bad habit for fish, wildlife, & Mother Nature, in general, but that is one way it can be done in emergencies!

I use Nissan thermos bottle. If the liquid isn't chocolate milk, I store it in Hard plastic bottle made by Outdoor research.
