I am looking for a similar item, something that can be worn on the belt or clipped to pants as needed. I am considering the phone pouches by Nite-Ize, which can also be worn transverse.

Black Swan refers not to a Nubian Beauty, but to the scientific problem of planning for very rare catostrophic events. Perhaps I can expand on that some other time.

I second the Spec Ops Single Super Sheath. It can be put on/off with out taking off the belt in either position.

in the beginning i too was looking for a holder just as you describe. although nite ize has some great products, i did not choose them because i was afraid the pock-it would come off at an inopportune time. i chose to not have the flexibility of their product. i guess it depends upon your application.

i found it best to see each kind in person - i need to see it before i'll buy it.

There are several .45 cal magazine pouches on the open market that might prove highly suitable for you. My Bianchi is vertical only but holds a Leatherman and a Buck 110. I have to put a little bit of paper towel into the bottom of the pouch that the Leatherman resides in.
These pouches are now being made for vertical and horizontal use and the snaps have more than sufficient tension to stay snapped.
These pouches will also make some people wonder what you're carrying & that can be both good and bad.

Echo the Super Sheath suggestion, but make sure you are dealing with a larger seller when you buy- some of the small ones might still have the older, snap-closed ones, and the snap wasn't all that possitive. The only thing from them I wasn't 100% thrilled with, but the newer, velcro-closed ones are just right.

Now if only the would make one with velcro AND a buckle.

I picked up a couple at REI a couple of months ago. The small one holds my Arc LSL flashlight pretty well, and the medium sized one holds my leatherman wave. They are made by a company called "Rainbow" At REI, the price wasn't too bad, at around $5.00 a pop.

I am sure that their stuff is not the absolute sturdiest compares to the other brands, but they are affordable and easy to find if you live near an REI.

BTW: The reason that I chose those cases is because they allow horizontal carry. Much nicer, as it keeps my Leatherman Wave close to me. Now, it snags on things a lot less and is more comfortable.
