The Ontario blades are good, probably good enough for most uses.
If you want the best big knives in production, get a Busse or a Swamp Rat. You could not do any better than these two, and they make some truly wonderful big knives. You will pay for the quality, but it is well worth it. They are all the rave on Bladeforums, and I own one of each and am quite happy with the investment. They are excellent working blades and the steel alloys they are made from are probably the best in the business right now.
If you search the net as I did and do the research, I am sure you will reach the same conclusions. Anyone else I've talked to that's done their homework ends up there too.
As far as headlamps go. I bought a 1 watt LED by Dorcy at a Lowe's Hardware store three years ago. I've used it regularly from hiding out in Mortar bunkers in Iraq to caving in Washington to hunting in Colorado and it has not failed yet and has met all my performance needs. I think I paid a little over twenty bucks for it back then. It uses 3 AAA batteries.
