This subject has floated a number of time in the past. Tthis is not another attempt to break it down and rebuild it with a different design. It is just for wishful thinking. So, administartor, please leave us alone to enjoy our dreams <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Thanks !!!!

OK. I wish
that "Survival Forum" is renamed otherwise becuase the whole thing is also called .... you know "Survival Forum" .

I wish
there is a section dedicated for equipment. It can be labeled " BOBs " , "Survival kits" , or "Survival Equipment". ..etc.

I wish
the Library is pushed down below the Long Term , so that the active sections are up and the lazy sections are together, below.

Tell us what would you like.
Santa maybe listening !!

The thing that frustrates me about other forums...say EDC Forums (which I really like btw) is that there are TOO MANY sections to it. It (et. al) are overly subcategorized and I'm sure I'm missing a lot of posts that would interest me because I have to spend so much time sifting through my favorite subsections.

The set up of ETS works a lot better imho. You've got Survival/Preparedness questions, you've got a section for chit chat, one for Long term, Ads and books...that's it!

I can check whichever section tickles my fancy, read the subject lines and choose the ones that sound interesting...no muss, no fuss.

It sounds cliche...but if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I agree with ORS, SOme of the other forums I watch do almost require the extra threads but I think the typical topics of conversation here fit into this streamlimned format.

I would like to see a wilderness/austere medicine equipment forum.

I am fine with the layout, etc. The thing that bugs me is that I have to reply to a specific person, not to a thread. Only one person who is replied to gets a notification. Other forums everyone gets notified if they are subscribed to a thread.

BTW on EDC forums there is a button called "notify". You just subscribe to a forum and if a new topic is posted, you get an email notification.

The way I see it with this forum is not that it needs more sections. Five sections is OK. However, I think ( Just my humble opinion) that the present "map" does not really show defined borders of any categorization.

It seems to me that :

- Survival Forum , Around the Camp Fire, and Long Term are really not very different in their contents.

- Library & Maketing are two small to deserve a seperate section.

So, in my view, it is like giving two guys two seperate rooms and putting a crowd of farmers, doctors, mechanics, and soldiers all mixed into three other rooms.

I think the forum can be something like this :

1 - Prepredness
includes long term, stories, techniques ..etc.

2 - Equipment
Includes PSK, BOB, BOV, FAK, Tools , kit and gadget reviews ..etc.

3 - Medical

4 - Other : I suggest BOV as a subject for this one ( including auto, bikes, boats , carts ..etc. ) , but it can be assigned to anything that can be agreed on.

5 - Around Campfire
includes chat + Library + Buy & Sell

Total = 5 sections. NO CHANGE

The purpose of this categorization is that marketing or selling stuff plus library wont take independent sections unnecessarily while depriving really needed subjects from seperate sections.

If you think that such categorization is too much spreading out, I dont know .... I think that a seperate section for buy/sell is by itself too much spreading out in the wrong way.

Just my very humble opinion. With many regards for the great management of this great site. I admit that if I had a site I couln't have made it like this. Things are always easier said than done.

as others have said, some other forums just have way too many topics. its like "where do you start?". simplicity is a good thing
