Just received my new RSK Mk 3 knife. Have not had a chance to use, but feels great in my hand. It is really well made knife and can't wait for a camping or hunting trip and use it.

Congratulations! I really like mine. I'm surprized there isn't more talk about them on the knife forums. They are well-designed, feel nice in the hand, and are absolutely beautiful!

I got a RSK mk I mini last week. I love this thig as well! Simple, elegant tool, EXTREMELY sharp! Doug and Benchmade did an excellent job!

That's been a puzzle to us as well. <shrug> We're getting good feedback, but not much being posted. Wish I knew why as it is a big help when someone posts positive comments on the knife forums.

Doug, I think I can speak for all Forum Members when I say "Thanks" to you for all of your efforts. I have been reading ETS for many years and have taken your advice and recomendations many times. My own "kit" is based on the area I live in, but has many common items.
Once again THANKS for the great site and a really GREAT kinfe!

I'm guessing that amoung other things the $115 to $165 price jump from the fullsize Mk1 to the Mk3 is because the full-tang fixed blade requires a significantly larger chunk of S30V to start out with, plus there is the cost of the sheath.

Though a lot of different knives are discussed, the knife forums most talked about knives seem to be the BK&T Northstar & Fox River, the Ranger knives, and to a lesser degree the RAT and Becker knives.

These are much thicker-bladed knives (choppers) and about all of them are made from non-stainless steels.

Personally I prefer a thinner lighter corrosion-resistant blade like the Mk3. I'm just not a batoner. In an emergency I can split smaller sticks, whittle down to dry wood, or burn it as is (unsplit).

Would the price be lower if the Mk3 had used a non-stainless steel? Should that be an option?

Price is an issue. I'm looking for a useful sheath knife that can take a lot of punishment. So far the Anza Boddington looks good (on paper) and is 40% of the price of the Mk3. Why should I shell out the extra money?
