I found this interesting website and thought I would share: kitup.military.com

From their website:
"Kit Up is the stuff you weren't issued but that you couldn't have done without during your military life. Kit Up can be a device, software, book, DVD, or a resource like a website, chat room, or blog. We want to know about the items that made things bearable during a deployment or that allowed you to accomplish your mission. Maybe your gear even saved your life. Kit Up can be new or old, expensive or cheap. It just needs to have mattered to you. And if you used an item that you think works better than what's posted here, we want to hear about that too. Warfighters: Tell us about your gear."

Suprisingly cans of Silly String are in high demand by our soldiers. They use it to find tripwires. Ingenious!!!

Bet it is- it isn't available in country, it has to be shipped in and you have to pay hazmat fees for it- pressurized canister. You don't waste stuff that keeps you alive and you can't get readily.

Good point. Let my fingers do the talking before my brain thought it through. But, it is still fun stuff....it's kinda neat to know that someone, somewhere, actually has a practical application for things like this. not something you think of normally.

They're list is still a bit light.

How about a Leatherman, a pair of Wiley-X eye gear, combat gloves, a water necklace, a portable MP-3 player, sound amplifying ear muffs, an OTIS gun cleaning system, etc.

There sure were a lot of non-issue SRKs out there too.
