Holly smoke Batman ! I have acne.

Does anyone know a simple treatment for adult acne? My zits are showing up all over my face. I don't want to spend lots of money on fancy cream crap. I tried to apply Iodine on the acne in the past but it continue to reappear again. I am frustrated. <img src="/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I guess I'll jump in. This topic seems like a stretch even for Around the Campfire. Anyways...

1) Wash your face with good soap and hot water, daily.
2) Go to the drug store and pick up acne treatment.
3) Visit a dermatologist.

Not sure where you heard to apply iodine to your zits. Something about that doesn't sound right to me. If you eat a lot of greasy, processed foods it might help to cool it. Lay off the pizza, soda, fries, etc.

You mention not wanting to "...spend lots of money on fancy cream crap." If you're suffering from acne so badly that you are asking us here on the forums for advice, perhaps suggestion #3 above is in order.

My simple solution for you Picard: Wash your face several times a day (every chance you get) with plain white Ivory soap and warm water. Don't worry so much about rinsing it off good before towel drying your face. It will dry out your skin and get rid of oils that lead to that acne. It works for me and is a method recommended by dermatologists. Believe me, it works, you just have to make sure you do this many times a day or you will end up looking like a pineapple face. I'm 42 and still have to prevent it this way on my forehead. Some people can be susceptible to acne until their mid 60's. SO: Get this on your brain. Ivory soap, warm water! lol

I"ll second the recommendation to visit a dermaologist. My wife has rosacea (sp?), which is sometimes called adult acne, but it is really something else, and put up with it for many years. I finally talked her into seeing a dermatologist and it changed her life (no, she's still married to me).

Well as others said wash your face. I do it at 2-3 times a day.
Personally I have oily skin so i use 3 different face treatments by nutrogena that dont break the bank. Just head down the aisle and see what stuff matches.
Dont touch your face either,it gets dirt in your pores.

Something else to think about....I'm not sure how it works at getting rid of acne that's already there, but I use Sulfer Soap to prevent it. My skin can get pretty oily, but its not horrible on the whole. The stuff stinks like crazy, but it works for me. Get it at most any drug store.

If you want something that is 100% effective for it, take 20 Wheatgrass tablets a day for about 2 to 3 weeks should do it. This isn't just a "I belief it'll work thing"... It's a DO IT and You'll SEE them disappear!!

Just saw your post where you said you are going to a doc for it...save your $ my friend, and do the wheatgrass that I just suggested for you, Picard, I've been helping folk with this wheatgrass for some pretty sever skin problems for many years, and several had been going to doctors for their problems for a few years too.... The worse case that I've ever ran upon, was a young lad who wore a beard and long sleeve shirts because he was almost considered a lepor with and "unknown" skin disease, his mother had flown him to 3 different states to see so called speacilist and still nothing worked... I put him on 20 tablets of wheat grass a day for 6 weeks, and in 6 weeks, he had shaved off his beard and only a couple faint spots were still visable, yet still disappearing. This is the gospel truth about what I've seen wheat grass do with all forms of skin disorders... yet because it is a herb... Doc's don't recommend it.. yet there "pills" don't always work either... enough said.. Mtman..

Or at the very least, try a different brand of soap for a few weeks. And shampoo. Preferably something without moisturizers nor antibacterials.

You might also try smudge baths with cedar.
