Without it adding to the already bulky EDC, does anybody have suggestions on EDC First Aid stuff? I basically have a couple of band aids in my wallet in case I cut myself playing with my sharps, and I have a fairly complete emergency first aid kit in my BMW under the passenger seat. Anything else you can suggest for EDC?

Knowledge. It's like the rest of what we talk about - knowledge and practical experience - along with attitude - are the best preparation. Then we can tweak the gear more... just my 2 cents worth.

Tom

When you see trauma victims treated at the scene of an accident or in immediate transport what do you see? If you need to pull over in case of a major storm or ( in my case) mechanical breakdown ( wheres that ductape?)- clean, fire retardant( wool) blankets.

A Bandanna. Wrap it around your neck, carry in your pocket, etc. One of the most valuable tools I own. Use it to keep pressure on a wound, with a stick to make a tourniqet, a sling...you get the point.

P.S. You may not look right wearing a bandanna around your neck while driving a BMW. :-)

John McIntire

I have six tiers of survival kits. My EDC kit has a first aid kit for minor injuries (tier one-first line of defense). Then my urban kit (tier two) consists primarily of survival gear and a full blown trauma/ paramedic kit toned down for my knowledge (EMT) and weight. These first two tiers are designed for one day emergencies but could see me through months of hardships.

For my EDC first aid kit I carry those items I would have a hard time coming across and would need the most for myself.

Bandana-Bandage, Tournequet
White Hankerchief- Bandage,

Inside a disguised Altoids Tin I carry
6- 800 mg Motrin
4- 500 mg Acetaminophin
6- Benadryl
2- Immodium
2- Pepcid AC
6- Pepto Bismpl
3- Povidone Prep Pads
*Other survival gear ie needles, thread, potable aqua, etc.

My EDC is meant for one day first-aid.
If a cut is large a temporary bandage with the bandana will suffice until I can get to Emergency Services or my own Paramedic bag.
Meds are for Moral, Comfort, and seeing through the day.

Final Note: These are the six tiers of my survival kits.
1) EDC
2) Urban Kit: Basically a one person primary kit designed for Urban living, not a big emphasis on shelter, big emphasis on money. Biggest Emphasis on Paramedic gear. This bag goes with me everywhere, work, gym, school, you name it. Contents have to be modified for Jury Duty and Plane flight.
3) Automotive Kit: Stocked with supplies to see me through WWIII and WWWIV.
4) Bug Out/ Wilderness/ 2 Person Primary: I carry this with my car. If I am at home the kitis at home.
5) House Kit
6) PSK (Last Resort kit)
