So we are working a CODE (a.k.a. Cardiac Arrest) one day; patient dry, little chest hair, defib pads on properlly. go to deliever 200j and BANG! FLASH! Now the wife is crying, my partner is saying "ma'am it's okay that happens sometimes" I look at the monitor and he had converted into a sinus rhythm, ugly but it wasn't V-fib anymore. a few minutes later we had a pulse. Looking at the pads, there were burn marks on the back of both pads. Still no clue why, we did the whole FDA reporting thing and no one has any clue as to what happened... but hey, energy was delievered and the guy survived, until the next time at least. I am pretty sure we all heard a second set of bangs due to puckerfactor.
