I'm not trying to call anyone here a dummy or anything, but...

If you've bought one of those big turkey fryers things, for safety's sake DON'T FILL IT WITH OIL TO THE TOP! Allow for displacement.

Last year, one of my coworkers' husbands didn't think... and ended in the emergency room. Not the greatest way to celebrate Thanksgiving.

Have fun, eat well, and don't set the house on fire.

Good point Susan. It's amazing how thousands of years after Archimedes people still don't understand displacement.

Another safety tip when frying turkeys: TURN THE FIRE OFF WHEN YOU ARE PUTTING THE BIRD IN!! I stopped lending my turkey frying setup to others because nobody ever did this. The pot would come back scorched. Luckily none of them ever burnt down their houses.

Another tip on frying turkeys: Twinkies dipped in waffle batter then fried are really yummy, but do it first before the turkey.

Eat, drink and be thankful everyone!
-Blast
