Has anyone owned any of the "Uzi" brand tritium watches? They have a relatively inexpensive model (for a tritium unit). Cheaper because the case is not stainless steel, and because there is not a tritium insert on each hour (only on 12,3,6,&9). The $59 "H3 Protector Rubber Strap" model listed here caught my eye: http://www.lapolicegear.com/uzih3trwa.html Free shipping from this dealer as well (has anyone dealt with "LA Police Gear" before?)

When I was young and foolish (1968, just before I went to Viet Nam), I bought a Rolex GMT Master with radium dials and hour markers. You could read the New York Times by it. I subsequently sold the watch for double what I paid for it, but I probably got a lifetime's worth of radiation while I was wearing it.

I've since considered buying a tritium watch. What's the life of the illumination - about ten years?

Various manufacturers are claiming 25 years lifespan for the tritium.

Glowrings claim 10-12 years.

haertig,

I have dealt with LA Police Gear for years. They have been great to deal with!
