Did anyone else catch it?
The story revolved around one of the members crashing a helicopter in the middle of nowhere and having to survive.
It had its errors but all in all it was pretty cool. I don't always watch this show but sometimes it is good if you like guns and such.
In the episode he uses a Griptilain to build a bow drill set and start a fire.
One issue I had with the story was for a supposed Delta team member he was way under equipped. But he did improvise very well.

I did see it and also found it unlikely that someone is his posiciton (and flying in a helicopter even more so) would be so poorly equipped. I found that very hard to swallow.

I saw it and enjoyed it. It was true that he did not have much gear but it wouldn't have been much of a drama if he had set up a tent, opened an MRE, and whipped out the old sat phone and called in the cavalry . If I remember right all he had was his knife and his sidearm. He made a fire with a bowdrill, made a shelter for the injured passenger in the wreckage, boiled water in some of the wrecked fusilage, snared and then shot a rabbit, got the radio working (until the batts failed), and finally got them out by making some sort of direction finder that homed in on a local radio station. It was pretty entertaining. It is too bad he didn't have a Ritter PSP though...

Give credit where credits due. The man showed maximum improvisation with the minimum amount of gear. Which is what we try to teach. Training, Knowlege, Determination, Improvisation.

I didn't see it, I tried to watch when the show first came on, but it was just too hokey for my taste. But, re the guy being better equipped, and assuming that he was just a passenger in the chopper, often times passengers, even SF types, carry a lot of mission specific equipment, some food and water maybe, and not much else. Aircrew members on the other hand, should at least have the gear that comes standard in their survival vests, plus the extra goodies the smart ones add. That is why flight suits have all of those neat pockets...

Rather than taking all the trouble to work with that fire bow, I would have opted to poke a stick into the burning helicopter and light my fire that way.
