OK, so a coat isn't as sexy as the latest exotic steel blade or rubbing two dry cliches together to create a fire, but I rather like being warm and keeping things from turning into an emergency in the first place.
Therefore, I'm on a quest for the perfect coat for inclement weather wear, and I'm tired of my legs getting wet. My current thought is something like a Drover or Duster style, light enough for summer rain wear (and if it's light enough to fold into a hiking pack, awesome!) but also good as a winter shell. I don't want oiled or waxed finish -- I can't stand the way they feel! A hood is neither required nor desired as I almost always wear a hat.
Much application of Google brings up things like
this but I have no experience with this coat.
I know Chris is partial to Filson but they don't make something long.
Any suggestions from those with knowledge of a great coat would be very welcome. Also feel free to tell me I'm an idiot for wanting a long coat and suggest your far superior alternative <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
Thanks,
