OK I am off from work today <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
So assuming it was a commercial flight I would have a Classic SAK.
This would probably be what I would be "able" to sneak passed the TSA.Also you did not specify the geographic locale so I will choose the pacific somewhere tropical.
That said here goes;
I pull the raft ashore and to the tree line so it can be used as the start of a shelter.
I would look around the general area to begin a plan for my shelter, water, signals and eventually food.
I would probably eat the skittles because I love them and would rather have a morale boost now to get off to a good start in a good mood.
I might keep a few to use as bait later but being an island I would guess that I could scrounge up something for bait anyway.
I would look for coconuts because they may be one of the only source of clean water. When I found some I would open them by using a stick and big rock. The stick to shred off the outer husk and then use the rock to crack it open.
I would also look along the beach for any streams feeding out from the island; possible fresh water. Great thing about a beach is it is hard to get lost if you stay along the water.
If I find no source of fresh water I would set the raft up as a sheltetr by leaning it lean-to style with the top up so that any rain water would pool at the lower end. This way I would use the raft as a cistern as well as shelter. I would use palm fronds in many ways to build the shelter; whole ones for shingling and shredded ones for bedding and insulation.
To make fire I would try using the lens on the maglight and or the reflector. The lens as a magnifier and the refector as sort of a "solar cigarette lighter".
If the did not work I would proceed to create a bow drill set. I have dabbled a bit but never really mastered this but I do understand the important concepts especially the correct way to make the notch. I would us the SAK and my keys (as a saw and drill) to make the set. I would use s shoelace for the bow.
Coconut husk and shredded palm fronds would make a decent tinder bundle; I may use some lint off my socks as well.
After fire is made I would finish the shelter and build signal fires.
Then start thinking about ways to get food. Keys and coins may be able to act as lures to bring fish close enough to be speared by a makshift spear. The spear tip is made by using the bic pen tube and sharpening it on a nearby rock and then notching it with the SAK to make a single sharp barb. Lash this to a stick with either shoelace, strips of some clothing (bottom of pants or T shirt, I would keep the LS shirt intact.) or some cordage made of some palm leaves. Dangle the keys in the water at the end of your other shoelace to atract fish and hope fully spear them.
I might also use some chum by locating some snails, clams, limpets etc. Crush them and toss in the water to attract fish. I could also eat the snails and such too.
Eat coconuts.
Wait to get rescued.
Well that was my shot at it. It is not completely detailed. Feel free to criticize. I can take it. I think I got a few ideas from Survivorman.
Maybe I should have just made a radio out of the cocnuts and called for help?
