This is short notice but Jesse H. Jones park is holding it's Pioneer Days demonstartions this Saturday. The have a village demostrating skills and procedures from the 1800's. There's a lot of good info on doing things without power. They have people cooking, tanning hides, spinning wool, woodworking, blacksmithing, and Native American skills.
