So I've read about a thousand posts on this forum. And I love it.
I've read about bags.
What "BAGS" do you use for EDC or PSK and for what? What BRAND also? And colors?
I live in urban Chicago and am continuing to acquire knowledge to be better equipped from this forum

33 gallon clear contractor bags. Don't know the name of the manufacturer, they were in a plain brown box when they were liberated from a maintence shed at my old employeer.
That reminds me, I need to replace them.
I use the clear becuase that is what I had, and the 55 gallon bags are too long to use as panchos IMHO.

I used to get and carry bright orange heavy duty (must be 10 mil or better) trash bags I got from the highway department (you know, those that they fill full of trash and then leave alongside of the highway for weeks), but now that I am retired I have to rely on plain old black 33 gal bags from Costco. I can usually find at least one gal and one qt sized ZipLoc Freezer bags in my stuff somewhere too...

I have tried many, including the big orange bags. But, today I carry these in my kits. These are 80"x52" but are small enough to fit in a pant pocket. It is big enough to make a shelter out of or wrap yourself in.

Ohhhh, big orange bags. I've been looking for a source for those.
It's funny. The popular image of Californa is the LA County landfill, while the popular image of Vermont is some pristine, quaint little countryside BS. (And yes, "quaint" is a cuss word for me.) But your high department cleans up the roadways? Heck, we can't get ours to fill in a pothole in less than six months.

I've purchased both 33 gallon and 55 gallon bright orange bags from http://www.spectrumbagsonline.com/categories.php?cat=11 . My kids carry 33 gallon bags and I carry 55 gallon bags - 2 bags for each person. They work well for us. I know the local Home Depot sells clear 55 gallon bags (we use them in our barn for trash - of all things), and I've often thought they would make good transpiration bags for water collection. Ken K.

"...your high department cleans up the roadways..."
Oh no, CalTrans does not pick up highways; inmates from the state prisons, and sometimes county jails, often pick up littler, and of couse there is the adopt a highway thing, where folks go out and pick up. Then the stuff collected sits in those bright orange (they had now gone to orange and white) bags for weeks, waiting for CalTrans to come pick it up.
And as for potholes, just ask anyone who has driven in CA about the condition of the roads. They are reported to be among the worst in the nation, at least according to truckers and RV'ers...
But sometimes you can talk highway workers out of a couple of bags just by asking...

Look for "contractors" bags at your local nig box hardware store. They hold up a lot better than the usual 1.1 mil trash bags.
