Macro photography can be difficult. Ttry using stand lamps and other lighting sources to give an even light over the surface... pull back your camera and use the zoom if that doesn't work. The most common issue (I'm guilty as well) is moving your body or the camera to cut off some of the lightsource. Try to disable your flash (it will cause glare) and either correct in software for lighting (Google's Picasa is free and has some decent simple to use lighting tools) or just do what I said earlier and crank up all the lights - it will cut down on blur with your autofocus since it won't have to shoot wide open.

When I shoot macro, I actually like to do it outside in bright, but slightly overcast light. Maybe give your PSK a "natural" background. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Otherwise, create a mini-studio in your kitchen or office... turn on all available ambient lights and bring in a table lamp or two and pull off the shade. They won't blur or glare nearly so bad...

Good luck.

Would these be in the folder "what NOT to have in you PSK"?
I jest because I think I still have an older first attempt PSK still kicking around - would you like photos of that or "new and revised"?
